Helping Future Generations in Wales Through Health and Wellbeing

Supporting Wales Through the Well-being of Future Generations Framework

In Wales, long-term thinking about health, equality, prosperity, and community resilience is embedded in national policy through the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act. This legislation challenges public bodies to work collaboratively, prevent harm before it happens, and create the conditions where people can thrive, not merely survive.

At DisabledEntrepreneur.uk and DisabilityUK.org, our shared mission is to support this vision in practical, community-led ways across Wales, by empowering disabled people, carers, entrepreneurs, and young people to build healthier, more sustainable futures.

We work alongside communities and aim to complement the efforts of bodies such as the Welsh Government, bringing lived experience, grassroots insight, and innovation into the wellbeing conversation.

Turning Policy Into Practical Support

While legislation sets the direction, meaningful change happens on the ground. Our platforms focus on accessible, people-first initiatives that translate wellbeing principles into everyday support:

Mental Health, Recovery and Thriving After Trauma

We recognise that many people are living with long-term stress, disability, or trauma. Through articles, resources, and (once DisabilityUK.org is formally launched as a charity) planned workshops with healthcare professionals, we aim to help individuals rebuild confidence, rediscover purpose, and learn practical tools for wellbeing. Healing is not linear, but with the right support, people can still thrive while recovering.

Community Spaces That Reconnect People

Across Wales, there are countless vacant shops and offices that could be reimagined as local wellbeing hubs. Where that is not yet possible, starting small matters: coffee mornings, drop-in guidance sessions, or opening an office once a week or month for community support. These simple gatherings reduce isolation, foster connection, and create safe spaces for shared learning.

Supporting Disabled Entrepreneurs and Purpose-Led Futures

DisabledEntrepreneur.uk advocates for inclusive entrepreneurship, helping people explore self-employment, digital skills, and micro-enterprise as routes to independence and dignity. Economic participation is a key part of wellbeing, and supporting disabled founders also strengthens local economies.

Youth Centres, Innovation and a Sense of Purpose

Young people are our future. Youth centres and community projects can become powerful spaces for innovation, collaboration, and belonging, giving young people purpose, mentoring, and opportunities to develop skills that benefit both themselves and wider society.

Building Sustainable, Connected Ecosystems

Rather than working in silos, our vision is an interconnected network of health, wellbeing, education, digital inclusion, and community platforms. By linking DisabledEntrepreneur.uk with DisabilityUK.org, we share knowledge, amplify voices, and build pathways that support people at every stage of life.

One Small Step at a Time

Creating a healthier Wales does not happen overnight. It happens through consistent, compassionate action: publishing useful information, building trusted networks, supporting grassroots initiatives, and listening to lived experience. From small community meet-ups to national advocacy, we are building steadily, one step at a time, toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity, purpose, and hope.

Our long-term aim is for DisabilityUK.org to host wellbeing workshops, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and help shape inclusive community programmes, while DisabledEntrepreneur.uk continues to advocate, motivate, and empower people through practical guidance and opportunity.

Together, these platforms are designed to support the spirit of the Well-being of Future Generations framework: prevention over crisis, collaboration over isolation, and people over systems.
