People with OCD don’t “choose” their thoughts or compulsions. Telling someone to “just get over it” is dismissive, harmful, and perpetuates ableist attitudes. If someone has lived with OCD for decades and tried all known interventions, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), medication, counseling, and even alternative therapies such as hypnosis, it is unjust to boil their suffering down to a fad.

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings, including periods of mania (elevated mood, energy, and activity levels) and depression (profound low mood and energy). Managing the condition can be challenging, as it often impacts everyday tasks, relationships, and quality of life.

By encouraging the unemployed to learn new skills or start businesses, we can simultaneously boost the economy and improve mental health outcomes. Integrating mental health education in schools and workplaces ensures that individuals are better equipped to handle challenges and maintain their well-being.

Labour is facing the prospect of another mass rebellion from its own MPs as concerns mount over proposed reforms to the universal credit system. The focus of unease is on changes to the assessment process for disability benefits, particularly the health element of universal credit (UC).

Someone suffering from germ contamination ocd may take significantly longer to undertake the task of an abled-bodied person as they may have to clean and disinfect surfaces and their surroundings.

The Law of Attraction is not magic; it’s a practice of directing your thoughts, emotions, and actions to align with what you desire. Combined with the science of neuroplasticity, it shows us that we can literally rewire our brains to embrace abundance, gratitude, and positivity. By letting go of negative cycles, using affirmations, and practising gratitude, even those facing hardship can begin to attract opportunities for growth and healing. As Napoleon Hill, Bob Procter, and many others have reminded us, wealth, financial, emotional, or spiritual, begins in the mind.

Invisible disabilities deserve recognition, understanding, and respect. Ableist attitudes rooted in ignorance and dismissiveness create barriers that can be just as disabling as the condition itself. Instead of questioning someone’s reality or minimising their struggles, we should listen, believe, and support. The lived experiences of those with invisible disabilities, like the editor who has battled OCD for decades, remind us that what cannot be seen can still have profound impact. True inclusivity means dismantling ableism and embracing empathy.

Employee well-being is a crucial aspect of a productive and harmonious workplace. Traditional wellness programs, while well-intentioned, often fall short in making a significant impact on employee happiness and satisfaction.

Trauma leaves lasting wounds, but numbing pain with drugs and alcohol only deepens the suffering. Although self-medication may seem like an escape, it damages the body and creates new chains of dependency. The path to healing is not easy, but it is possible. With therapy, support, and healthier coping mechanisms, people can face their fears, overcome their inner demons, and take back control of their lives.
